Steps to find an iPhone only app with the iPad.

1. Open the app store with your ipad

2. Search for your app

3. you will not find your app

4. select on the left upper corner from the filter "only iphone"

5. your app should appear

If there are any orientations with iPad, that could be the problem.

In one of my apps I have only the portrait mode in the supported orientations for iPhone like in the screenshot below (can find it without any problems via the iPad):

In info.plist, for the key "Supported interface orientations (iPad)" removing any landscape orientations and

Reply them with the specification of your app & tell them that this app is ONLY for iPad & not for iPhone. Ask them to review it again & confirm that you have NOT used anything related to iPhone while submitting your app on App Store.

Though there is a requirement for iPhone apps that they should be executable in iPad without any modification, but vice versa is not applicable.

If you have any other app under your account which is also iPad only & is live, then you can give reference of that app in your reply.

You can reply to their message on Resolution Centre with your justification & resubmit your app again for review after verifying that it does not have anything related to iPhone. Your app will be accepted after that. Try this I have faced similar kind of issues many times.

Yes, it's normal. An iPad can run an iPhone app, if the iPad meets all of the hardware requirements of the app. (You can specify the hardware requirements using the UIRequiredDeviceCapabilities key in your app's Info.plist).

The app store review guidelines don't require that your app runs on an iPad (although it is encouraged):

2.4.1 To ensure people get the most out of your app, iPhone apps should run on iPad whenever possible. We encourage you to consider building universal apps so customers can use them on all of their devices.
