Xcode 12.5.1 - Could not attach to pid: #### - Lost Connection
This problem might be related to the beta version of macOS that you use.
I suggest using the Xcode 13 Beta from Apple for developers.
You need a free apple developer account to access this download.
For me this solved all problems.
Can't sign in in Xcode: Couldn’t communicate with a helper application.
The problem you described started in Big Sur. It has been discussed extensively on github.

You'll be happy to know that this thread gives you a work-around, although it's a bit painful.
Mac M1 chip issues with rosetta, “attachment of code signature supplement failed: 1”
One of the following will fix the issue IMHO.
- Restart Mac OS.
- Upgrade OS (will restart after the upgrade)
- Upgrade Docker, Upgrade OS, restart.
I had the same issue on Apple Silicon (M1Pro) running on Mac OS Monterey (12.0). I installed Rosetta2 and problem persisted. I deleted and reinstalled Docker but that did not fix the problem. After reading other answers on this question, I realized that for some people, OS upgrade was solving the problem.
