How to Get an Iphone's Device Name

How do you get an iPhone's device name

From the UIDevice class:

Swift version:

UIDevice.current.name

Objective-C version:

[[UIDevice currentDevice] name];

The UIDevice is a class that provides
information about the iPhone or iPod
Touch device.

Some of the information provided by
UIDevice is static, such as device
name or system version.

How to obtain iOS Device name

You can find the device name with:

[[UIDevice currentDevice] name]

How to determine the current iPhone/device model?

I made this "pure Swift" extension on UIDevice.

If you are looking for a more elegant solution you can use my µ-framework DeviceKit published on GitHub (also available via CocoaPods, Carthage and Swift Package Manager).

Here's the code:

import UIKit

public extension UIDevice {

static let modelName: String = {
var systemInfo = utsname()
uname(&systemInfo)
let machineMirror = Mirror(reflecting: systemInfo.machine)
let identifier = machineMirror.children.reduce("") { identifier, element in
guard let value = element.value as? Int8, value != 0 else { return identifier }
return identifier + String(UnicodeScalar(UInt8(value)))
}

func mapToDevice(identifier: String) -> String { // swiftlint:disable:this cyclomatic_complexity
#if os(iOS)
switch identifier {

#endif
}

return mapToDevice(identifier: identifier)
}()

}

You call it like this:

let modelName = UIDevice.modelName

For real devices it returns e.g. "iPad Pro (12.9-inch) (5th generation)", for simulators it returns e.g. "Simulator iPad Pro (12.9-inch) (5th generation)"

You can also use to get the all details of your mobile OS using UIDevice class as below:

NSLog(@"uniqueIdentifier: %@", [[UIDevice currentDevice] uniqueIdentifier]);
NSLog(@"name: %@", [[UIDevice currentDevice] name]);
NSLog(@"systemName: %@", [[UIDevice currentDevice] systemName]);
NSLog(@"systemVersion: %@", [[UIDevice currentDevice] systemVersion]);
NSLog(@"model: %@", [[UIDevice currentDevice] model]);
NSLog(@"localizedModel: %@", [[UIDevice currentDevice] localizedModel]);
