Find all columns of a certain type in all tables in a SQL Server database

You can use following query to return fields

SELECT table_name [Table Name], column_name [Column Name]
FROM information_schema.columns where data_type = 'NTEXT'

Find all columns of type nvarchar(max) in all tables in a SQL Server database

The character_maximum_length will be -1 for max.

How to find column names for all tables in all databases in SQL Server

Try this:

With resulting column names this would be:

Based on some comments, here is a version using sp_MSforeachdb:

SQL server query to get the list of columns in a table along with Data types, NOT NULL, and PRIMARY KEY constraints

To avoid duplicate rows for some columns, use user_type_id instead of system_type_id.

Just replace YourTableName with your actual table name - works for SQL Server 2005 and up.

In case you are using schemas, replace YourTableName by YourSchemaName.YourTableName where YourSchemaName is the actual schema name and YourTableName is the actual table name.

Get column names of all tables in SQL

You can use INFORMATION_SCHEMA.COLUMNS:

select c.*
from INFORMATION_SCHEMA.COLUMNS c;

This has name, type, and a lot of other information for all tables in a database -- note, not on a server but in a database.

How Find a value as any Data Type by searching all tables in SQL Server
