The Document Main.Storyboard Requires Xcode 8.0 or Later

The document Main.storyboard requires Xcode 8.0 or later

I have figured it out:

Open your Storyboard in Xcode 8.

Click on the File Inspector.

In Interface Builder Document section, select Opens In "Xcode 7.x" instead of "Latest Xcode (8.0)", as in following screenshot:

Sample Image

On doing this, you will get an alert saying "Saving for Xcode 7.x will close your document and data for Xcode 8.0 features will be removed."

Click Save and Close and you will be able to open storyboard in Xode 7.x.

can`t open storyboard on stable version Xcode

The document “Main.storyboard” requires at least Xcode 11.0. This
version does not support iOS 13.0 system colors. Open this document
with at least Xcode 11.0.

solved

open the storyboard as source code and first delete the lines:

<capability name = "iOS 13.0 system colors" minToolsVersion = "11.0" />

and everything where there is

cocoaTouchSystemColor

And then in the Interface builder to restore the desired colors.

thnx for Russian Stack Overflow

ERROR: This document requires at least Xcode 12.0

Thanks for the two suggestions! Turns out the issue didn't originate from the storyboard, although that's where the error was being thrown. Instead it was caused by a navigationItem image that I was setting programmatically in one of the project's ViewController files. The icon ended up being exclusive to iOS 14+, which was why the project wouldn't build in Xcode 11.6.

I switched the icon and everything built without issue.

Why doesn't Xcode recognize Main.storyboard?

Did you try Removing the storyBoard and Re-Add it in Main Bundle ? Just make Copy of your Storyboard and Delete it from Xcode Project and Again Drag And drop the copy made in Xcode Project with check Copy items into destination group's folder (if needed)

And

Also check

Link - Interface Builder could not open the document ".storyboard" because it does not exist

Other options are Also Provided there

The document Main.Storyboard could not be opened. Unrecognized file content

I just find a solution as below:

Make sure the storyboard extension should start from lower case s.
Ex: it should be "Test.storyboard" not "Test.Storyboard"

Visual Studio Mac xamarin ios storybook not working with XCode 12

Ok here is what I did to get it to work:

1: Download Xcode 11.5. ( https://developer.apple.com/download/more/ need to be a apple developer to use this link )

2: Point Visual studio to that SDK (11.5).

3: Restart Visual Studio.

4: Open up the StoryBoard.

5: It worked.

6: Reset the SDK back to 12.1.

7: Restarted Visual studio.

8: Tried to reopen the the StoryBoard it worked.

9: wtf.

it's been working since I did this zombie rain dance.
There is a issue with Xcode 12.1 not sure what it is but its there.
