How to remove all inherited CSS formatting for a table?
Try this.
From Eric Meyer's Reset CSS
table, caption, tbody, tfoot, thead, tr, th, td {
margin: 0;
padding: 0;
border: 0;
outline: 0;
font-size: 100%;
vertical-align: baseline;
background: transparent;
}
Removing inherited css in table
By having more specificity with your CSS, a great summary is found linked here, it will take precedence. Maybe using an ID for your main table, and a class for your nostyle cells would be the best way to organize it?
<table id="twocoltable">
<table class="nostyle">
Another option, you can override with CSS using !important, a jsFiddle linked here.
Removing table style with css class
You have #nostyle
, but it should be .nostyle
. Periods are for class
es, hashtags are for id
s. I would just replace #nostyle table, caption, tbody, tfoot, thead, tr, th, td
with *
to apply those styles to everything in your document.
Reset/remove CSS styles for element only
The CSS3 keyword initial
sets the CSS3 property to the initial value as defined in the spec. The initial
keyword has broad browser support except for the IE and Opera Mini families.
Since IE's lack of support may cause issue here are some of the ways you can reset some CSS properties to their initial values:

As mentioned in a comment by @user566245 :
this is correct in principle, but individual mileage may vary. For
example certain elements like textarea by default have a border,
applying this reset will render those textarea's border less.
JAVASCRIPT ?
Nobody thought about other than css to reset css? Yes?
There is that snip fully relevant : https://stackoverflow.com/a/14791113/845310
getElementsByTagName("*") will return all elements from DOM. Then you
may set styles for each element in the collection:
answered Feb 9 '13 at 20:15 by VisioN
var allElements = document.getElementsByTagName("*");
for (var i = 0, len = allElements.length; i < len; i++) {
var element = allElements[i];
// element.style.border = ...
}
With all this said; i don't think a css reset is something feasable unless we end up with only one web browser .. if the 'default' is set by browser in the end.

How can I disable inherited css styles?
The simple answer is to change
div.rounded div div div {
padding: 10px;
}
to
div.rounded div div div {
background-image: none;
padding: 10px;
}
The reason is because when you make a rule for div.rounded div div
it means every div
element nested inside a div
inside a div
with a class of rounded
, regardless of nesting.
If you want to only target a div that's the direct descendent, you can use the syntax div.rounded div > div
(though this is only supported by more recent browsers).
Incidentally, you can usually simplify this method to use only two div
s (one each for either top and bottom or left and right), by using a technique called Sliding Doors.
How do I prevent CSS inheritance?
As of yet there are no parent selectors (or as Shaun Inman calls them, qualified selectors), so you will have to apply styles to the child list items to override the styles on the parent list items.
Cascading is sort of the whole point of Cascading Style Sheets, hence the name.
How to remove the inherited style on Text Box object from td that the text box is nested in
Basically, you can't remove the inherited properties. You need to override them with "stronger" CSS rules. You can use the !important keyword if you need to.
.TaskFormField {
font-size: 10px !important;
}
.TaskFormField {
font-size: 12px; /* One could believe that the font size should be 12px,
but it remains 10px because the !important keyword is used. */
}
CSS table formatting irregularities
The problem is, as you guessed, the extra CSS in the file wp-custom-css.css. In line 840 we see
.px_update_date {
display: inline-block;
position: absolute; left: 7em;
}
So your second <col>
does no longer qualify as a table column, no longer having its default display value of table-column
. Solution: change its class to another name, that is not in use yet.
The answer to your second question is, tables don 't scroll easily. By far the most straightforward solution is to put the table in a container and let the container scroll.
.scrollable {overflow:auto;}
<div class="scrollable">
<table style="width:200%; border:3px outset">
<tr> <td>Very</td><td>wide</td><td>table</td> </tr>
</table>
</div>
HTML and CSS table is getting wrong style by inheritance
you should use an higher specificity for your rule, e.g.
table.formular td.customSearch-InnerTable-td { ... }
