Android emulator not rotating to landscape

Some of the emulator targets like 4.4 (API level 19) and 2.3 have a bug. Change your emulator to target version 4.2 or 4.3 and try to change the orientation.

Apparently,everything old is new again: orientation change bug in 4.4

It's good to know that I've not missed something obvious; OTOH this is a pretty obvious FAIL on the part of google's quality assurance... did bill gates sneak in there while no one was looking? Or are they greedy & trying to sell phones for testing by mucking up the emulators? Looks like there's a device in my future.

Since some version of Android emulator (recently, like 27.0.0 or so) it is possible to restart the emulator with Ctrl key (Ctrl for Mac) + left arrow or right arrow.
So:

Ctrl + (Left Arrow OR Right Arrow).
