Eclipse: won't let me use Android SDK, wrongly claims my ADT is out of date
To anyone else with this problem, my solution was just to delete the Eclipse folder, and download a new copy from scratch. I had to then re-download all plugins including adt, which worked this time round.
Eclipse says my SDK tools are out of date when they're not
Turns out, Eclipse was looking for the SDK Tools in the wrong place. Eclipse was looking for the tool in:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Android\android-sdk
The ACTUAL TOOLS was in:
C:\Users\YourName\AppData\Local\Android\android-sdk
The SDK Manager will tell you where the tools are. You can tell Eclipse in the preferences (under the Windows) to look in that directory.
Can't update ADT in Eclipse to version 23
Go to Help -> about eclipse -> installation details
Now you can see the plugin you installed , delete the previous plugin that you want to update and then install your ADT as describe here .
My problem solved by this way ...

Eclipse ADT update does not work
Edit. 26/03/2016
Please note that Google Announced: Support for the Android Developer Tools (ADT) in Eclipse has ended, so consider migration to Android Studio.
Solution:
The fastest installation way I found to solve that without deleting eclipse, or losing any data/settings:
- Go
heredownload latest version of ADT, current ADT-23.0.7.zip (*) - At
Eclipse
>Help
>Install new software...
> UncheckContact all update sites during install to find required software
(bottom, last preference) in order to avoid any unwanted delays during install. - Same screen (top) Click
Add
>Archive
> select downloadedADT-X.X.X.zip
> follow on screen installation steps
As a user mentioned in a comment if you still face problems on updating like that you may try removing the previous version of ADT before installation.
(*) Previous versions:
- ADT-23.0.0.zip | ADT-23.0.2.zip | ADT-23.0.3.zip | ADT-23.0.4.zip | ADT-23.0.6.zip
- ADT-22.6.0.zip | ADT-22.6.1.zip | ADT-22.6.2.zip | ADT-22.6.3.zip
- ADT-22.3.0.zip
- ADT-22.2.1.zip
- ADT-22.0.0.zip | ADT-22.0.1.zip | ADT-22.0.5.zip
- ADT-21.1.0.zip
Edit to fit the updates of ADT, this solution seems to work in any version :D
Error in update ADT in Eclipse and IBM Worklight Studio
This is not related to Worklight.
If you want to update ADT, update ADT.
Worklight will continue to work.
When I load ADT why do I receive the error The Android SDK requires Android Developer Toolkit version XX.X.X or above?
For some reason ADT (Eclipse) won't pick up on the fact that it does in fact need to be updated. Since the built in tools for updating are failing you you'll have to work around them. On the Help menu instead of selecting Check for Updates instead pick Install New Software (so Help > Install New Software).
On the Available Software screen in the Work With dropdown provide:
https://dl-ssl.google.com/android/eclipse/ if it's not already available. You should see a list of options including Developer Tools. Check everything that you want to update. In the list of checkboxes below uncheck "Contact all update sites during install to find required software."
Click Next and follow the remaining onscreen prompts. You may be warned that instead of an install an update will be performed. This is okay. Once the operation is complete you will no longer receive the "The Android SDK requires Android Developer Toolkit verxion 21.1.0 or above" error when you load ADT.
Update Eclipse with Android development tools v. 23
Google response:
This is a packaging bug. The entire proguard file is missing. We'll have an update asap, but until then just copy it over from a previous version of the tools:
- http://dl.google.com/android/android-sdk_r22.6.2-windows.zip
- http://dl.google.com/android/android-sdk_r22.6.2-macosx.zip
and copy over the following files:
- tools/hprof-conv
- tools/support/annotations.jar
- tools/proguard
So at the end if you started from a new ADT copy by hand the files :)
Edit: with the latest ADT release, the bundle should now work with auto-update, so install these new versions:
- linux 64 bit vm: http://dl.google.com/android/adt/adt-bundle-linux-x86_64-20140702.zip
- linux 32 bit vm: http://dl.google.com/android/adt/adt-bundle-linux-x86-20140702.zip
- mac: http://dl.google.com/android/adt/adt-bundle-mac-x86_64-20140702.zip
- win32: http://dl.google.com/android/adt/adt-bundle-windows-x86-20140702.zip
- win64: http://dl.google.com/android/adt/adt-bundle-windows-x86_64-20140702.zip
Don't try to upgrade from previous version because it doesn’t work at all.
If you have got problems with zipalign, it's now under build-tools and no more under tools/ so you can do a symbolic link or just copy it into the expected folder.
Adt eclipse phantom error
Let's try to make a full clean of your project.
- Right click your project name. Android Tools > Fix Project Properties. If you have multiple Library Projects linked to this project, follow the same step with them first.
- Hit the top menu Project > Clean. Select the radio button Clean all projects and hit OK.
You should leave Eclipse doing its job (depending on the amount of projects and files, it may take a while). If this doesn't work, follow the same process, but as a third step, close Eclipse and restart it right after you hit the OK button. Eclipse is powerful, but a silly IDE sometimes.
If the problem is there after restarting, and you have some libraries attached, check inside the Project build paths (right click the project name, Project Properties > Java Build Path) have the proper JARs, only once, and before any Android Library
