How can you remove an important CSS property?
The reason you can't remove the property is because it's a shorthand property.
When you set it, other properties actually get added, but no "background" property, so there's no "background" property to remove.
In this case, you can unset it like this:
elem.style.removeProperty('background-color');
In general, you'd need to unset every "long-hand" property represented by the shorthand property.
You could also do this to overwrite it:
elem.style.setProperty('background', 'inherit', 'important');
Or you could nuke the entire inline style for the element like this:
elem.style.cssText = '';
Reset/remove CSS styles for element only
The CSS3 keyword initial
sets the CSS3 property to the initial value as defined in the spec. The initial
keyword has broad browser support except for the IE and Opera Mini families.
Since IE's lack of support may cause issue here are some of the ways you can reset some CSS properties to their initial values:

As mentioned in a comment by @user566245 :
this is correct in principle, but individual mileage may vary. For
example certain elements like textarea by default have a border,
applying this reset will render those textarea's border less.
JAVASCRIPT ?
Nobody thought about other than css to reset css? Yes?
There is that snip fully relevant : https://stackoverflow.com/a/14791113/845310
getElementsByTagName("*") will return all elements from DOM. Then you
may set styles for each element in the collection:
answered Feb 9 '13 at 20:15 by VisioN
var allElements = document.getElementsByTagName("*");
for (var i = 0, len = allElements.length; i < len; i++) {
var element = allElements[i];
// element.style.border = ...
}
With all this said; i don't think a css reset is something feasable unless we end up with only one web browser .. if the 'default' is set by browser in the end.

Remove important styles in CSS
You should be able to do this by increasing specificity on your mobile css file and adding an !important value to this new value in the mobile stylesheet.
I'm not sure of your structure without seeing your html but if you can add an additional class or id to the parent container/element that is specific to mobile css and use that to target your mobile view
for example
#mymobile .classtooverride {newstyles !important;}
How can you remove an !important CSS property?
I changed the v-icon
to i
tag as follow and it works for me:
SetContinueInError(myChip, e) {
var target = e.target || e.srcElement;
target.style.color = "yellow"
myChip.continueInError = myChip.continueInError == true ? false : true;
},
<i class="material-icons" style="color:gray" @click="SetContinueInError(chip,$event)">error_outline</i>
Can I use jquery to remove/negate css !important rule?
Unfortunately, you cannot override !important
without using !important
as inline/internal style below the included theirs.css
.
You can define a !important
style and add it to .stubborn
then adjust the opacity.. See below,
CSS:
div.hidden_block_el {
display: block !important;
opacity: 0;
}
JS:
$('.stubborn')
.addClass('hidden_block_el')
.animate({opacity: 1});
DEMO: http://jsfiddle.net/jjWJT/1/
Alternate approach (inline),
$('.stubborn')
.attr('style', 'display: block !important; opacity: 0;')
.animate({opacity: 1});
DEMO: http://jsfiddle.net/jjWJT/
Remove CSS rule with !important property
Just add another class to the element that sets the content to another value.
document.querySelector("button").addEventListener("click", function(e){
document.querySelector(".vjs-icon-placeholder").classList.toggle("nocontent");
});
.vjs-icon-placeholder:before{
content: "This is some before text";
display: block;
color: dodgerblue;
}
.vjs-icon-placeholder.nocontent:before {
content: " ";
}
<div class="vjs-icon-placeholder">
This is a div.
</div>
<button>
Toggle Content
</button>
Is there possible that remove !important property from element on specific resolution?
Change the style to max-height
and remove the important!
.custom-slider {
max-height: 645px;
}
You could also make the selector more specific by adding the tag or a parents id/class. This would give the style a higher priority.
body div.custom-slider {
max-height: 645px;
}
