Why do fonts appear jagged in Chrome?

In windows 10:

• Go to the windows search, search for "This PC" right click and choose properties
• Go to advanced system settings
• Click the settings button in the performance group
• Check the box for "Smooth edges of screen fonts"
• Restart computer and your fonts will be back to normal

How to fix google font pixelation issues on safari and chrome

You cannot possibly control how a browser like Chrome renders fonts. You just have control over choosing the best font at best font-size.(Some fonts looks good only at certain font sizes - the font you are using looks good from 50px onward it seems. EDIT:Ah that is a different issue)

If you / your client is so specific you can even get help from some custom rendering like

1. Typeface.js
2. Cufon

which uses canvas/flash to render fonts. Using it extensively can cause performance issues or slowness.

There used to a font-smoothening, but I guess no longer supported, you can try it though -webkit-font-smoothing property has no effect in Chrome

Why do fonts get pixelated at lower font-sizes?

less size means only a couple of pixels are available for font rendering. more the no. of pixels, more the clarity. take the example of an ellipse. the more no. of points u use to draw the ellipse, more accurate the ellipse will be.

about ur anti-aliasing issue - sorry, there's nothing u can do on chrome/opera on windows. ie antialiases fonts. but not chrome/opera. in mac thought fonts get antialiased even at small sizes.

try the premium font 'Helvetica Neue'. It looks the same with/without antialiasing.

My web fonts look pixelated, especially the vertical parts of 'l's 'i's and 't's

I installed the font in question, which I discovered to be 'Noto Sans,' to my computer. Following a relaunch of chrome, it seemed to fix itself.

EDIT: This did not fix the problem, I had to manually install an extension to replace the text on pages with a custom font before the problem vanished.
