Turn on location services without navigating to settings page

This dialog is created by LocationSettingsRequest.Builder available in the Google Play Services.

You need to add a dependency to your app build.gradle:

compile 'com.google.android.gms:play-services-location:10.0.1'

Then you can use this minimal example:

private void displayLocationSettingsRequest(Context context) {
    GoogleApiClient googleApiClient = new GoogleApiClient.Builder(context)
            .addApi(LocationServices.API).build();

How to show enable location dialog like Google maps?

LocationSettingsRequest.Builder has a method setAlwaysShow(boolean show). While the document indicates it's currently doing nothing(updated 2015-07-05: updated Google documentation has removed this wording), setting builder.setAlwaysShow(true); will enable Google Maps behavior:

To have that feature you need:

• First (at least) the version 7.0 of play services

compile 'com.google.android.gms:play-services-location:16.0.0'

• Second something like this in your code (I had it in my onCreate):
